How to Use Uniswap with Ledger

Welcome to this guide, where we are going to see how you can use your Ledger with Uniswap without any problem.

To do this, let’s start with the assumption that you already have your ledger configured and ready to use. In addition to having your ledger account added to metamask. If this is not the case, you can consult this guide.

Since you will have to link your ledger to a wallet with its own extension or app to be able to interact with Uniswap, my recommendation is to use metamask, as it is the most used and you will not have compatibility problems. But you can also use trust wallet or other wallets compatible with Ethereum and Ledger network.

Differences of using Ledger or not

The only difference we found when using Ledger in Uniswap, is when you want to confirm the transaction.

Unlike a normal account, which simply opens your wallet to confirm the transaction when you make the swap or exchange, in the case of Ledger you must confirm the transaction in your Ledger.

Also, you must enable an option in the Ethereum application if you have not done so, or you will not be able to confirm the transaction. This option can be found in settings and blind signing. Here, you will need to enable this option and have it look like below. Otherwise, you will not be able to confirm transactions with your ledger from applications such as Uniswap.

When you use the ledger, you will see above the confirm button a blue text that tells you what to do to confirm the transaction. Once your metamask wallet opens, you will see in your ledger the transaction, click on the buttons until you get to accept and press the two buttons to confirm the transaction.

The step by step to use your ledger in uniswap is as follows:

  • Connect your Ledger to your computer or mobile (Bluetooth)
  • Link your Ledger with Metamask
  • Go to Uniswap and connect your wallet (Metamask or another)
  • Indicate the cryptocurrencies you want to exchange and click on swap
  • Review and confirm your transaction in your ledger by pressing the two buttons on the accept screen.
  • You have already made the swap in Uniswap with your Ledger in this simple way.

Check out this guide if you are new to using Ledger with Metamask and the Ethereum network to get out of any doubts you may have.
